Win a Steam code for OMG Zombies!

Thu, 8th May 2014 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone.

I’ve got two quick questions for you.  First of all, do you like prizes?  And second, would you like to gun down hundreds of blood thirsty zombies in a series of explosive chain reactions, with just a few carefully placed shots?

If you answered “No” to both of those questions then you should probably skip the next couple of paragraphs.  But, if you answered with an emphatic “Yes” to either, then pay close attention, as we’ve got some OMG Zombies Steam codes to give away to 20 lucky winners!

To win this great prize all you have to do is tell us how you would go about surviving a zombie apocalypse.  Just add your answer to the comments section of this blog before Sunday 11th May, and you’ll automatically be entered into our prize draw.  We’ll announce the winner on this blog post the following Monday, so be sure to check back here as we’ll also be providing information on how to claim your prize.

Please do not enter the competition with a guest account, as this would mean we would be unable to give you your Steam code.

OMG Zombies is based on OMG HD Zombies (Vita), a massively enhanced remake of the critically acclaimed OMG-Z (PSP), which currently sits in the top 10 PSP games of all time on Metacritic.

For those of you who haven’t experienced the simple joys of zombie-popping, the virus in OMG Zombies is the result of a virulent fungus that causes its zombified victims to explode when attacked. That’s pretty cool in itself, but if any infected body parts land on another zombie then they’ll explode too, causing a chain-reaction tsunami of gore!  Wise to this, as a highly trained Riot Cop, you’re able to use your wits to take down hordes of the undead with a single well-placed rifle round.

In other news, earlier today we released a fairly minor patch for Agarest: Generations Of War Zero on Steam.  This patch fixes an issue that on some rare occasions could lead to the game hanging when loading an affected save game.

While I’m on the subject of Agarest Zero, watch out for the second DLC bundle which will be released next week.  So far, the first bundle seems to have been very popular with you all, but if you have any comments on how we are handling the DLC then please feel free to let us know.

And before I go, just a quick word about the recent release of Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer’s Call (aka Nocturne) on PSN in North America.  While I can’t comment on whether this title will be released in Europe, I’ve been hearing a few stirrings regarding a possible European PSN release for Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 as PS2 classics.  I can’t promise anything just yet, but I’m hoping that this might mean the conflicts with the emulator which prevented us from releasing the game on PSN last year have now been fixed.  I will of course provide you with more news on this as soon as I get it, so as always, keep watching this space!

First Agarest Zero DLC Bundle released today

Thu, 1st May 2014 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone.  Today is the day that the first of the Agarest: Generations of War Zero DLC bundles will be released.  The bundle will feature the Daily Extension Pack, the Formidable Pack and the Extra Points Pack 3 and will be priced at £3.99 as opposed to £5.77, which it cost to purchase all these DLC items individually on console.

Since we announced the various bundles in a previous blog post we’ve had a few people ask why we decided to go down this route rather than releasing each of the pieces of DLC separately.  After the release of  Agarest: Generations of War last year there was a feeling among many of our community that the list of DLC was perhaps too overwhelming due to the number of different pieces of DLC.  After some discussion on a feedback thread it seemed to me that while the majority of people did want all the DLC from the console release to be available on PC, the weekly release of several individual pieces of was not ideal and that when all the DLC was released it made for a rather overwhelming list.

During these discussions it was suggested to us that instead of releasing each item separately we offer them as discounted bundles.  Looking back through the discussion again this seems to be the one of the more popular options.  And from our point of view balances the desire to replicate the options available in the original release without overwhelming people with too lengthy a list of DLC.

Having said that we are always interested in hearing what you have to say.  So, if you have any comments about how we are handling the DLC please let us know.  We’re still experimenting with how we handle ports of games with lots of DLC options such as the Agarest series and we really do appreciate your help with this.  Any feedback will be taken on board for future releases but may also alter how we handle the DLC in Agarest Zero.

In other news, we’ve also been busy working on a patch for the few remaining unresolved issues in Agarest: Zero this week.  We’ve already sent a test build out to some of the people who have been experiencing a rather bizarre issue with the backgrounds.  We’re expecting feedback from them soon, which should hopefully allow us to put together a patch fixing this issue.

Finally we received another great Agarest Zero review from the team at Gamepinion, who had the following to say: “All around, Agarest Zero is a great Strategy RPG that PC gamers should be delighted to have. If you enjoyed those loveable Squaresoft games back in the PSOne era, then this is absolutely worthy of your time and attention. It may not do a lot new, but it sure as hell delivers fresh and fun strategy gameplay, with enough style that the lack of innovation is rarely in the players mind.”

Agarest: Generations of War Zero A Week On From Release

Thu, 24th Apr 2014 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone,

If you weren’t aware, Agarest: Generations of War Zero, the prequel to #1 Steam Top Seller (and recently discounted) Agarest: Generations of War , has been on sale for a week on Steam!

We thank you for all your emails and comments of support.  It’s been great to hear from so many of you who are really enjoying the prequel.

As you would expect from a PC release, due to the huge variety of PC machines out there, we’ve had a few bugs reported although the number of problems have been far less of an issue than when we released the original Agarest: Generations of War.  This decrease in launch window issues is all down to the hard work put in by both the beta test team and - of course - the development team at Laughing Jackal.  You know who you are - thanks guys! :)

For those of you who have been experiencing problems, we put out the first post-release patch yesterday which addresses a number of issues:

  1. A bug has been fixed in the tutorial where some players couldn’t progress if their agility was too high.
  2. Also included is an improvement to the user interface as we added a +/- 10 function to buying and selling in the shops.
  3. A couple of small text issues were found and fixed.
  4. Plus a few other very minor issues.

We do have a couple of users who are still experiencing problems with the game and we are dealing with them directly.  Obviously we will continue to fix the problems that Agarest Zero players report and will continue releasing patches to resolve these issues and others that may crop up.

The reviews have started to come in from the press.  First up, from Twinfinite who, in their 4/5 review, called Agarest Zero: “...a unique title even in today’s diverse landscape.”

OtakugamersUK also enjoyed, Agarest Zero,  awarding it 7/10 and saying: "...thankfully the games tactically deep combat system & interesting features continue to shine with the bump in resolution afforded allowing the nice art of the title to breathe a little more too."

If reading those reviews has whetted your appetite, Agarest Zero is available here for $19.99.

In other news for those of you who have been asking I’ve been told that the first Agarest Zero DLC bundle will be out next week.  The bundle will feature the Daily Extension Pack, the Formidable Pack and the Extra Points Pack 3 and will be released next Thursday.  For more information on the bundles and why we have chosen to go this route please see my earlier blogpost.
