Hi everyone. With the beta going well (BIG thanks to everyone involved :)) I’m delighted to be able to tell you that the classic dungeon crawler Elminage Gothic will be coming to Steam on Thursday September 18th priced at just $9.99, with a Steam pre-purchase period opening from September 11th. Anyone who buys the game during the pre-purchase period will get a 20% discount and also receive the “BESTIARUM VOCABULUM” which is a 118 page digital art book featuring all the creatures from the game along with their stats. And that’s not all as you’ll also receive the full Elminage Gothic soundtrack too, featuring 60 minutes of music! The 20% discount will continue for one week after launch until September 25th, but please note that the art book and OST won’t be available when the pre-purchase period ends on September 18th. So, be sure to pre-purchase the game between the 11th and 18th September to take advantage of this amazing offer! :)
Not only will this be the first time that Elminage Gothic has been released in English but we’ve also replaced the vast majority of the PSP artwork with higher resolution versions, so now all the monsters, creatures and NPCs look amazing! We also tasked Laughing Jackal artist, Jake, to redraw all the dungeon textures and menu artwork at a much higher resolution and I’m sure you’ll agree that he’s done a mighty fine job. Nice one Jake! :)
If you’re not sure what Elminage Gothic is all about, well, here’s a brief description to whet your appetite:
In ancient times, the Great and Dark Gods clashed in a ferocious war over Man's control of the world, bringing despair and ruin to the lives of all humans.
As the conflict raged, the Great Gods sought to vanquish the power of the Dark Gods through the faith of humans. In return for their faith, the Gods promised humans a world of peace and prosperity and thereby a contract between humans and the Great Gods was formed.
By the contract, the Dark Gods could not interfere with the world of humans and were forever sealed inside their world of darkness. The people worshiped the Great Gods in thanks for their prosperity, and the world entered an era of peace.
However…
The humans grew complacent and allowed their faith to fade.
Now, in the far-off realm of Ishmag, King Jardin ushers in an age of peace. Unknown to him, the dark powers have already begun reaching out in secret, planting the seeds to bring about the revival of the Dark Gods into the hearts of men. Foul and hideous creatures are emerging from the deep, treacherous caves of Tsun-Kurn and rumours of a rising evil are creeping across the peaceful lands.
It is up to you to arm yourself and descend into the depths of Tsun-Kurn in an attempt to put an end to the ever growing darkness and save your kingdom.
From the makers of the world renowned “Wizardry Empire” titles, Starfish SD brings you the latest entry in their popular series of dungeon crawlers. Hi everyone. At long last, I’m very excited to be able to reveal that we will be bringing the Japanese action game and prestigious ‘Famitsu Gold Award’ winner, Way of the Samurai 4, to PC via Steam later this year!
Developed and published in Japan by Acquire and Spike Chunsoft, Way of the Samurai 4 is part of the million+ selling Way of the Samurai series. The series has seen sequels (and even a prequel) released on numerous consoles, including PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360, but to date none of the games have ever been released on PC. Considering that Way of the Samurai 4 has so far been exclusive to PS3, we’re obviously delighted to be working alongside both Acquire and Spike Chunsoft in creating the first ever transition to PC of such a popular series!
This isn’t the first time we’ve stepped out of the RPG world but I think it’s fair to say that this title represents a bit of a departure for us here at Ghostlight. While we’ve always worked hard to bring Japanese games over to our shores, we’ve mainly focused on JRPGs so this will be the first big Japanese action game we’ve ever worked on! :-)
Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect from Way of the Samurai 4:
This 4th entry is set in the mid 19th century, as Japan has begun to open its borders to the Western world. You’ll play as a master-less samurai thrown into a three way conflict between the shogunate pro-governmental forces, the nationalistic isolationists, and the foreign powers who are heavily influenced by the British Navy.
Navigating this new and dangerous world, the missions you select will shape your destiny as you discover multiple endings depending on your loyalty to the three factions.
Way of the Samurai 4 features an awesome dynamic combat system allowing the player to use a wide array of melee and gunpowder weapons to fight enemy samurai. But Way of the Samurai 4 isn’t all about combat as it also offers a vast array of character customization options, weapons and equipment upgrades and a chance to learn a strange new language, English :-).
We’re already hard at work on the PC conversion and I’m hoping to be able to share more news on the game in the very near future.

Hi everyone. I’m afraid there’s not an awful lot of news for you this week. The conversion of Agarest 2 to PC is continuing to make great progress, but I’ve spent most of my time looking after the Elminage Gothic beta. We’ve had a very helpful influx of new testers this week and as a result, the extra bug reporting has been adding to our already heavy workload (good work guys :)).
In addition to working on the conversions of Elminage Gothic and Agarest 2, our sister company Laughing Jackal have sent a couple of their team over to Gamescom this week to show off their upcoming masterpiece, “Flame Over”. It’s a Vita game which has best been best described as a firefighting Pyroguelike! :) So, if you do happen to be at Gamescom this weekend, I’d heartily recommend that you check it out – it’s on the Sony stand (in the 18+ section for some reason). Alternatively, you can catch a glimpse of Flame Over in the new teaser trailer which is going live on the SCEE blog today. The game looks amazing and plays even better, but don’t just take my word for it (as I could be accused of a little bias), why not check it out for yourself? :)
Lastly, I’m really pleased to report that we have now officially signed the game that I’ve been hinting at over the last couple of months. Unfortunately we won’t be able to announce it just yet, but do keep your eyes peeled for more information in the coming weeks. Just to remind you all, the game in question is an action title that was originally released on console in Japan, so we’re getting busy with the process of converting the title over to PC for an upcoming release on Steam. More on this soon…
