Mugen Souls to be released on the 22nd October

Fri, 16th Oct 2015 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone :)

In my last blogpost I spoke about how smoothly the Steam port of Mugen Souls has been progressing. I’m pleased to say that, with the help of the beta testers, progress has continued to the point that I can now reveal that Mugen Souls will be released on PC via Steam on the 22nd October, priced at just $19.99 with a stunning 40% launch discount. As the eagle-eyed among you have noticed, the Steam Store Page has already gone live and while it is not yet on sale, you can check out some more screenshots and join in the discussion on the Mugen Souls Steam Community page.

The week after launch, on the 29th October, we will be releasing the console DLC, which will again have a mighty 40% launch discount in addition to some substantial savings over the console release. In addition to this we will also be including a massive 30 items of DLC* from the console version as part of the base game for free.

From the creators of the best selling Agarest series, Hyperdimension Neptunia & Fairy Fencer F…

There exists a small galaxy in the universe containing seven worlds, shimmering in seven colours... These worlds exist and act independently of one another. This has allowed them to develop and nurture rich, unique cultures. Then one day, a decree was issued... "I'm gonna make everything in each of these worlds bow to me!" – The Undisputed Goddess, Chou-Chou.

Mugen Souls features a free-roaming battle map, turn-based combat, and massive amounts of customization and growth to maximize the fun players can have with the game.

Expansive worlds to explore: Travel freely on each world to explore and find treasures and items. Monsters are roaming about, so be cautious, or fight them head-on and make them your subservient peons!

  • Free-roaming style battle maps: Use Combo attacks to execute spectacular moves with your allies! Destroy Crystals on the battlefield to activate Hyper mode!
  • Moe Kill: Execute the Moe Kill technique to enslave enemies and turn them into items by exploiting their weaknesses!
  • Customization: Create a full cast of characters! Customizable body parts, facial expressions, and job classes!
  • Duel in Dual Audio: Experience the game in either Japanese or English audio.
  • PC Upgrades:  Featuring full mouse and keyboard support, gamepad support, Steam achievements, User Interface and graphical enhancements!

That’s all from me.  I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? Mugen Souls progressing well!

Thu, 8th Oct 2015 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone.

First of all I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s picked up Way of the Samurai 4 on GOG. Way of the Samurai 4 has been charting highly since release and at the time of writing, even after the discount has expired, it is still in the top 15. :)

Moving on to our next PC release, Mugen Souls, I’m very pleased to be able to tell you that the closed beta is progressing very well with most of the more serious issues fixed.  Once again, I’d like to offer huge thanks to the Beta testers - your help is really appreciated by everyone here – thank you!  We’ve also implemented our usual improvements for the PC version including Cloud Saving, keyboard and mouse controls, increased performance to achieve higher texture resolution and 1080p/60fps on most setups, not to mention much faster loading times (and if you remember the PS3 version you’ll appreciate that last point, I’m sure.)

While we’re not *quite* ready to give a release date yet, it’s looking increasingly certain that we will be releasing the game this year, and sooner rather than later.  I’ll have the confirmed release date and price point for you all as soon as I can.  The conversion of this title has definitely been a lot quicker than usual, but having ported quite a few Idea Factory titles to PC over the last couple of years, the devs over at Laughing Jackal have managed to make this quite a smooth process. :)

In other news, those of you who have a PS3 but have not yet picked up Agarest Zero will be pleased to hear that Agarest: Generations of War Zero currently has a massive 70% discount on the EU PSN Store, reducing the price from £19.99 to just £6. The offer ends on the 21st October, so make sure you hurry to the PSN Store to take advantage of this great deal.

That’s all from me.  I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Way of the Samurai 4 out now on GOG

Tue, 29th Sep 2015 | Posted by Ross

I know that lots of you have been asking about a possible GOG release for Way of the Samurai 4, so I’m very pleased to be able to tell you that the Japanese action game and prestigious ‘Famitsu Gold Award’ winner, Way of the Samurai 4 is out now on GOG priced at $24.99 with an amazing 40% launch discount meaning the price will be reduced to $14.99 for the first week on sale.

We will also be offering a DLC patch on GOG containing the following DLC:

  • Where are they now?
  • Ryoma Sakamoto
  • Shinsengumi Set

This is available for $9.99 and as with the game itself will have its price reduced by 40% to $5.99 for its first week on sale/

Developed and published in Japan by Acquire and Spike Chunsoft, Way of the Samurai 4 is part of the million+ selling Way of the Samurai series.

The Way of the Samurai series is widely renowned for allowing players to make far-reaching decisions that can radically alter the course of the story and this, the fourth entry in this thrilling series and previously exclusive to the PS3, is no exception! Now all the sword-wielding action, adventure and drama of the Way of the Samurai series comes to PC for the very first time, continuing the series’ blend of customization, exploration, action gameplay and quirky humour.

Way of the Samurai 4 takes place in the humble port town of Amihama during the mid 19th Century, several years after the arrival of the “black ships” from the West ended Japan’s long history of cultural isolation. Amihama’s downtown area has slowly been converted to a “Little Britain,” complete with European-styled buildings, occupied by an influx of adventurous foreign settlers. Not everyone welcomes these new residents though, and three distinct factions with opposing ideals begin to take shape.

You must take on the role of a master-less samurai looking to establish yourself in this conflicted land of opportunity and uncertainty. It is up to you to decide which faction to support in an almighty conflict amongst the region’s three powers, and so direct the course of Japan’s history.

Will you aid the shogunate pro-government in their attempts to keep the peace and establish cordial relations with the foreign contingent?

Will you help the nationalistic isolationists in their attempts to exile this potential threat to the Japanese way of life?

Or will you ally with the foreigners directed by the British Navy in their attempts to establish silk trade and foster cultural exchange?

Who will you support? Who will you betray? Become the ultimate bastion of virtue or the ultimate disgrace to humanity, and do it however you'd like. The choice is entirely your own...

Come join the denizens of this conflicted harbour and enjoy all the series staples you've come to expect from Way of the Samurai:

• Branching storylines with multiple endings

• Dynamic combat system

• Vast array of melee and gunpowder weaponry

• Extensive character customization

• Key event decision making

• Sword collecting

• Original Japanese voiceover with English subtitles

What the reviewers had to say about the PS3 version

“Ridiculously over-the-top Japanese historical setting combined with samurai badassery and an open-world, Choose Your Own Adventure–style interface.” - EGM

“I can recommend this game to anyone who is a diehard fan of samurais and enjoys a good combat system wrapped around a unique way of telling a story.” - Darkstation

“...a unique, rewarding experience that to date, can't be found anywhere else.” – Destructoid
