Sorcery Saga closed beta applications open!

Wed, 9th May 2018 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone.

I've got some good news for you, since we've now been able to tell you about Sorcery Saga coming to Steam, we can now begin the closed beta. So, if you'd like to help us out and get your hands on the Steam version of Sorcery Saga early, then be sure to apply.

How do you apply? Simply send an email to: betagroup@ghostlight.uk.com with your name, date of birth and the technical specifications of your PC.

Applications will close by Monday 14th May, so please make sure to get them in before then.  As with previous closed betas, we will not be picking people on a random or first-come-first-served basis, so please do bear that in mind.  What a ‘yes’ decision actually comes down to depends on a number of factors, including how representative we feel the range of PC specs we’ve assembled for the beta is.

As we only have a limited number of places available for the beta, feel free to tell us why you think you’d be particularly suited to helping us with the testing phase of Sorcery Saga. This may include information like details of any previous experience you’ve had in beta testing, or simply declaring your undying love for the genre.  In fact, please tell us anything that you feel is relevant which may help us approve your application. :)

That’s all for now. I’ll be back soon with more news from Ghostlight, but until then why not follow us on our TwitterInstagram and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Cooking up a PC port of Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God

Mon, 30th Apr 2018 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone! We've been hard at work in the Ghostlight kitchen, cooking up a PC port of Compile Heart's curry-tastic dungeon crawler, Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God. Previously served up exclusively on PlayStation Vita, our PC port will include all the high quality, ethically sourced ingredients you'd expect, including delicious Steam Achievements, mouth-watering Steam Trading Cards, nutritious Cloud Saving and optional sides, such as mouse and keyboard control and Game Pad controls.

Join Pupuru on a delicious adventure filled with excitement, thrills and all the curry you can eat as you quest to save your favourite local curry restaurant from being swallowed up by the big bad curry chain which has moved into town.

Take part in a meaty quest to discover the four Legendary Ingredients needed to make the Legendary Magic Curry! Explore dungeons that change shape each time you visit them. Fight monsters, collect items and cook curry to power up your characters! Can you save Smile Curry, or will you never again eat your favourite spicy dish?!

  • Quest for Curry - Arm yourself, stock up on Skills and then venture forth into the many dungeons, filled with weird and wonderful monsters, handy items and - of course! - the freshest curry ingredients.

  • Share your curry with "friends" - A strange quest needs a strange group of companions. Share your food with your gluttonous but brave companion, Kuu, to power him up. Hang out with Puni, servant of the Great Curry God and ignore the attentions of Gigidis, the slightly creepy Dark Lord of the Netherworld.

  • Behold, the Power of Curry! Make delicious curry from the ingredients you find in the dungeon and boost your stats. Or, throw your cooking failures at your enemies to nerf their abilities!

When it was released on PlayStation Vita, Sorcery Saga received some fantastic reviews including:

USgamer - 4/5 "Who knew a game could make you so obsessed with a food item?"

Pocket Gamer UK - 8/10 "This gem of a roguelike dungeon-crawler doesn't pull any punches and leaves you with an immense feeling of accomplishment if you're skilled (and lucky) enough to clear its dungeons."

IGN - 7.5/10  "If you’re looking to expand your gaming palette, Sorcery Saga is a tasty little morsel for the Vita that offers both plenty of challenges and lots of laughs."

We will be serving up Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God on Steam - and possibly via other eateries - later this year, so please keep your eyes peeled and your mouth watering until we're able to share more information with you.

Until then, bon appetit! ^_^

Dungeon Crawling

Thu, 12th Apr 2018 | Posted by Ross

Hi everyone. These past few week's I've been busy dungeon crawling, and no I'm not talking about exploring the darker reaches of the Ghostlight Warehouse, although rumour has it many strange and wonderful things can be found there.

Instead I've been playing through the two rather excellent dungeon crawlers that we're currently working on, one of which we should be able to actually announce very soon, possibly next week in fact!

While both of these games are very different, they do have two important similarities. First of all, they both look really awesome and are great fun to play, and secondly they pose quite a challenge and are genuinely testing my gaming abilities. I think my main problem is that I have a habit of trying to push a touch too far at times, meaning that I've had plenty of opportunities to see the game over screens :(I also have a habit of being a little too cautious when it comes to managing consumable items, when I'd clearly be better off - at times - using items up at much faster rate.

The good news is that game conversions themselves are progressing really well (certainly far better than my skill at playing them) and I think we should be ready to start the closed beta very soon after their announcement.  So watch this space if you'd like to take part :)

That’s all for now.
