Ghostlight Blog

Hi everybody. It’s been another busy week here at Ghostlight. As I said in last week’s blog, I’m still hard at work on Fate/EXTRA at the moment. One thing that has changed since last week’s blog is that the Persona 2 / Persona 3 Portable bundle release date has been moved forward to the 8th February.
This week I’ve been looking at cons. No, I’m not working out a way to steal everyone’s money, I’m talking about conventions and expos. While we’re very happy talking to you all online we’d like to meet you all in person as well, and while sending me round to all our fans’ houses isn’t terribly practical, having a stand at some conventions would be a good way to do so.
Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but if you are planning on attending any conventions or expos please let us know which ones in the Comments section and we’ll look into them. We can’t promise we’ll make it to your particular show, but we are trying to get to some.
My New Year’s resolution this time around was to cut out the teases. But, as is traditional, and although I have managed to reach February with my resolution (mostly) intact, I have found that it’s just too much fun to give up! So I thought why not break it in style?
With that in mind, here’s a quick look at what we’ve got coming up. None of it is confirmed enough to reveal yet, but here are some juicy little morsels for you:
Firstly those of you who enjoy JRPGs on PSN will be made very happy by some of the news we’ll be able to share very soon. I can’t say more than that, but this one is really rather cool.
We’ve also been looking into supporting a few more consoles in the coming year. Not only do we have a growing pile of Vita titles to evaluate, but we’re on the verge of acquiring licences for multiple games on a couple of systems we have not released any JRPGs on before. Not only that but … Hey! Somebody help me!
*Sounds of a struggle*
Sorry for the slight technical difficulty there. Ross has been temporarily detained. Moving swiftly on. We’ve also got a little update in our regular chart watch, as Persona 2: Innocent Sin appears at number 10 on the PSP chart and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky climbs to number 9.
That’s all for now, but remember you can stay in touch with us on our Twitter and Facebook pages and our Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow Ross on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Hi everyone. Hope you’ve all recovered from last week’s big announcement :).
With the success of our Persona 2 / Trails in the Sky bundle on PSN we’ve decided to fuse our Persona to create the Persona 2 / Persona 3 Portable bundle which will be making it’s way on to the PlayStation Store on the 15th of February priced at £39.99 (€49.99) saving you a cool £15.99.
I’ve been working on Fate/EXTRA pretty solidly since last week and it’s looking good so far. I haven’t found any issues in the test build and the game itself is very enjoyable. The combat system is very original, the story and characterization are sharp and there’s already been one very clever twist. Things are going very well and we’re hoping to be able to share more details of our Collector’s Edition and a release date with you all soon. Work is also continuing on Agarest 2 and we’re expecting to receive the first fully English build from our friends over at Aksys soon. Needless to say, we’re all really looking forward to testing this awesome game.
Of course, that’s not all that has been happening here at Ghostlight. You might remember that a couple of weeks back a framed Persona 2: Innocent Sin Collector’s Edition showed up. When I came into work I was pleased to find another new present; this time we’ve got this lovely framed Agarest: Generations of War Zero Collector’s Edition hanging proudly on our wall.

I don’t know about you but I’d love one to take home with me. I think we could all find a spot for it in our collections.
Talking of new things, we’ve also had to put up a new virtual mantelpiece for all of the awards that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky has been collecting this year. In fact, it’s just picked up another batch as RPGamer named it the winner of their Best PSP Game award and their Best Story award. Trails in the Sky also tied with Dragon Age 2 as their most completed game and picked up third place in their Best Music category.
It wasn’t just Trails in the Sky that impressed, as our newest RPG, Fate/EXTRA, was runner up in their Most Original Category.
We’ve also enjoyed some more success in the UK PSP Charts as Persona 2: Innocent Sin has climbed from 9th to 6th and Trails in the Sky has again re-entered the charts at number 10.
That’s all for now, but remember you can stay in touch with us on our Twitter and Facebook pages and our Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight. You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Hi Everyone. I seem to remember that in the dim and distant past otherwise known as 2011 we promised a PSP announcement :).
While it’s taken a little longer then we planned I’m delighted to announce that Ghostlight will be bringing Imagepooch and TYPE-MOON’s fantastic RPG Fate/EXTRA to the PAL region on PSP later this year. Fate/Extra takes place in a parallel universe to that of the hugely popular Japanese visual novelFate/Stay Night.

Story
Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one’s wish granted. With only an enigmatic “Servant” by their side, the protagonist will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the “Holy Grail,” but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: “Who am I?”

Features
- Intuitive, Fast-paced BattleSystem: Using Break, Attack, and Guard abilities in combination with powerful Special Moves and Code Casts, players are required to plan out their attacks to effectively counter their opponent’s moves and emerge victorious from potentially deadly encounters.
- Engrossing Story: Written by the creator of the original Fate series of PC games, Kinoko Nasu, the story ofFate/EXTRA will not only appeal to long time fans of the Fate universe, via the inclusion of many familiar characters, but will also appeal to RPG fans looking for a deep, non-formulaic storyline that delves into such mature themes as loyalty, death, love, and what it means to be human.
- Extensive replay value: Multiple story paths, each with their own unique dialog trees and character interactions that lead to different endings.

“Aha!”, some of you are probably saying. “This doesn’t match one of the clues you gave out last year!” And, of course, you’d be right. The clue: “It’s part of a Japanese franchise which has seen a few releases in Europebefore, although never on this format”, was incorrect. As MaroonSkein points out in the Comments, there was in fact a Fate fighting game released previously on PSP which I managed to completely forget about. This clue was meant to refer to the UK release of the Fate/Stay Night anime. The second clue did still work though, as the history of our world has been altered somewhat to create the setting for Fate/EXTRA.
Thanks for joining us today. 2011 was a great year for Ghostlight, lets hope 2012 is even better :).
